Tax Extensions

When do I need to file an IRS tax extension?

In some cases, you may be able to request an additional extension beyond the six-month extension period. However, the IRS is generally reluctant to grant additional extensions unless you have a valid reason for not being able to file your tax return by the extended due date. If you believe that you need more time, contact Community Tax as soon as possible to discuss your options.

If you're unable to file your tax return by the original deadline, you can request an extension by filing Form 4868 with the IRS. This will give you an additional six months to file your tax return. The extended due date is typically October 15th.
